HISTORY Traditionally depicted in his green Lincoln green attire, Robin Hood was known in English folklore as a heroic outlaw who stole from the rich to give to the poor. Along with his band of Merry Men, Robin Hood became a popular figure in the late Middle Ages and continues to be widely represented in films, television, and literature. FIGURES Romantically depicted in the "Errol Flynn" version, King Robin Hood in this set is wonderfully crafted with his bow, quiver, and sword. He even holds a dagger hidden in his belt. Marian is beside him in a long white dress, while the fierce King John watches. The bishop can only be Fra Tak, comically depicted with a staff and a mug of ale in hand, and a lamb at his feet. The Merry Men and the castle guards become knights and pawns on both sides. Each figure is beautifully dressed in their green Lincoln green costume and chainmail.
